Orchards and vineyards dominate the landscape around Cermes
(Tscherms in German), in the Merano tourist region.
Archaeological discoveries hereabouts have shown that this village in the
Adige valley was already inhabited in the Stone Age.
The
attractive tourist resort is ideal as a starting point for hiking and exploring
the mountains of South Tyrol. One of the easiest locations to
reach is Castle Lebenberg, built in the 13th Century by the
Lords of Marling. It stands on a moraine hill, it looks down on
Cermes, surrounded by a flower garden in the Rococo style. Today its walls
steeped in history host a remarkable museum, including very fine frescoes and a
collection of medieval weapons. Hikers can reach the castle on the panoramic
path along the Marlengo stream (the Marlinger Waalweg), which
at 12 km is the longest of its kind in South Tyrol. It begins at Tel and ends at
Raffeingraben near Lana.
You too can discover it on foot and enjoy the
fantastic views of the Merano region that you find on your way. So we invite you
to book your holiday at Cermes today, choosing the accommodation that suits you
best!
